4. The same subject in two levels is considered two separate subjects in the equivalency. For example, if a student takes biology in the advanced level as well as the ordinary level, the two subjects are considered separately.
5. In addition to A-levels and O-levels, students graduating from Jordanian schools must pass both levels of the following subjects, and that is during the eleventh and twelfth grades: Arabic language (communication skills), Islamic Education (for Muslim students) and general education in the Jordanian curriculum.
6. Students graduating from foreign schools outside Jordan must pass tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades and provide certificates that are accredited as appropriate, in addition to A-level and O-level certificates accredited by the British Council in Amman.
7. Computing is considered a science subject at both levels.
8. Graduation year is the last year during which a student can acquire the requirements of the equivalency.
Secondly: Equivalency in the Scientific Stream
To gain Tawjihi equivalency with the scientific stream, the following is required:
* Six passes in O-level/IGCSE/GCSE exams including:
- Two passes in exams of the sciences
- One pass in Arabic
* Two passes in A-level
- one full A-level in mathematics or in physics
- the other A-level may be a full A-Level in science subject or an AS/A2 in any science subject or two AS’s in two Science subjects.
Thirdly: Equivalency in the Literary Stream
To gain Tawjihi equivalency with the literary stream, the following is required:
* Six passes in O-level/IGCSE/GCSE exams including:
- 2 sciences
* Two passes in A-level
- one full A-level must be in Arabic
- the other A-level may be an AS/A2 in any literary subject or
- two AS’s in any two literary subjects or
- one AS in a literary subject and one AS in a scientific subject.
Fourthly: a student is allowed to repeat the equivalency in order to improve their scores after one year has passed after the last equivalency, and that is by repeating one or two subjects from the previous equivalency.
Fifthly: the final percentage of a score is calculated as follows:
a.
A* = 98 C = 75
A = 95 D = 65
B = 85 E = 55
b.
9 = 98.5 6 = 88 3 = 60
8 = 97 5 = 80
7 = 95 4 = 75
c. the sum of all percentages is then divided by the total number of subjects.
