Learning Support Department
This section deals with students’ academic, social and cognitive needs where it was established to complete our educational and comprehensive system.
Since every student has his/her own abilities and skills that can be improved and developed through certain educational strategies, we took the responsibility of helping the students to overcome any obstacle he/she may face by one to one learning.
The school adopted special remedial plans and strategies to improve and develop the abilities and skills of special needs’ students.
The learning support goals:
-
Adjust and modify the curriculum according to the students who need the support.
-
Use different educational strategies that help those students to mingle with students in different classes.
-
Use one-to-one educational system to focus on students.
-
Help students to participate in the schools’ activities.
-
Focus on educational technology for better results.
The procedure of accepting students:
1. Diagnose students to identify special needs’ students according to special measurements for each age group, like the Intelligence tests and the academic readiness tests which are done by a specialized accredited center.
2. Prepare a special plan for each student individually which includes the educational program and the working strategies. It also includes the evaluation strategies which focus on analyzing the curriculum and simplifying it to make easier to learn for students with learning difficulties.
3. Prepare special educational and technological teaching aids that are suitable for each group to achieve the educational plan.
4. Follow a counseling program to help students to grow and guide them according to their abilities, interests, and preparations.
Students that are accepted in this section are those who have:
1. Learning difficulties.
2. Slow learners.
3. Accented difficulties.
4. Distraction and difficulty in focusing.
Mayar International Schools has a section for learning difficulties for ASL students supervised by specialized teachers who guide those students in their learning process.
This section works on a policy of separating and mingling those students with their regular classmates.
Those students learn Arabic, English, and Mathematics in individual classes and by communicating with their parents for constant feedback.
The process of accepting students in this section has many procedures. First, there an interview is conducted with the students’ parents to acknowledge their son/ daughter’s difficulty. Then, an interview with the student alone is organized to collect the information needed on which the student’s level is applied in addition to the separate and mingled classes.
